BOX OF BIRDS IS AN ARTIST COLLECTIVE WITH A FOCUS ON EXPERIMENTAL AND INTERACTIVE NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGY AND PERFORMANCE.
The name Box of Birds derives from an old New Zealand slang phrase used to describe a state of happiness and wellbeing. And so this chirpy new logo identity was devised as a geometric box-shaped bird with a playful backstory.
The animated logo starts out as an incubatory nesting box which agitates from side to side until it eventually reaches tipping point and falls over. This dramatic change of perspective triggers the start of an expanding mathematical grid representing underlying technologies at play. Mechanised coloured lines trace the geometrical pathways and intersections which form the birdhouse shape until they gradually start filling in with colour. After cycling through a plethora of colourful bird iterations contained within its geometry, a unified and lively black bird emerges chirping out their name.
